- No. 497 - Begonia (B. ‘Ricinifolia' X B. 'Arcola') 'Bardon Hills' Originated by Hazel Burley, 191 Simpson Rd., Bardon, Brisbane 4065, old Australia, in 1972 and first bloomed and distributed in 1974, the rhizomatous plant has a distinctive leaf and is vigorous and easy to grow. The leaves are almost black with green bleeding off each vein, taking the shape of a maple leaf, 6" x 4"; rough, lightly-spiked margin and slightly-hairy texture; petioles up to 10"; nerves 7; stipules, colorless. Flowers are pink on stems 10-12". Registered August 8, 1975.
