Description
Wiener illustrirte garten-zeitung. n.p.,n.d. 1887. Page 78-9 http://www.biodiversitylibrary.org/item/100759 Begonia incarnata Adolf Weik. It is known that Begonia incarnata is one of the best winter flowering plants; In hundreds of copies she went to the reserve garden director Antoine and used it everywhere. But also as a cut flower the plant can be used very well. A fertilization of the well-known Begonia Wettsteini with Beg. Incarnata, also in winter, gave Mr. Wettstein the new Hybrid 'Adolph Weik’, which is characterized by the highest flower development during the winter. Moreover, of all woody shrubby begonias. Begonia incarnata 'Adolph Weik 'is the fastest and strongest in growth. The plants reach the height of 2 meters in one year and one of these high proportions. This surprising growth allows this new hybride to be rapidly formed into a high stem, and as such can be cultivated, and it will certainly be the result of a whole new breed of begonia. The flowers are a very friendly, lively pink, in clusters of 30 centimeters long. With the wonderful rapidity, this begonia also shows an exceptional variety, so that the flowers follow without interruption from September to March. For our floralists the begonia is certainly a big gain.
