Description
We will now describe them individually: 'Madame A. Courtois' - Plant (Fig. 61), very florid, remarkable for the holding and size of the flowers. Cylindrical stalk, very large, slightly and very hairy, with straight hairs, short, gray-blond. Leaves inequilateral, brilliant green above, glabrous and slightly marble below. Pink cylindrical petiole. Flowers of good form, single to double, on a strong peduncle stands 5 to 7 centimeters in diameter, the double very strongly bombs, with many petals, imbricates, white-sulfur. This variety, which reaches 15 to 18 centimeters in height, stands very well; its flowers, borne on strong, glabrous, glistening pink peduncles, are erect in spite of their enormous volume, which would make it, if necessary, a very good walking plant, before having more than a good hold on the peduncle, and that they retain for a long time their beautiful color, sulphur yellow and more or less salmon. 'Soleil d' Austerlitz '- Very dwarf, ramified plant, of a beautiful red-culvert color in all its parts. Glabrous stem, cylindrical, with a very dark bark of dark red, as well as all the other organs, such as petiole, peduncle, etc. This gives the whole plant a great ornamental character, besides the flowers, which, single or double, are of a very hot red culvert. Leaves uneven, small, bright green, finely dentate. Straight floral axis, steep, bright red. Many flowers, erect, not falling. Buttons of a purple red culvert, very small, 4 to 5 centimeters in diameter, with regular petals, whole, a little thick, in section. This variety, is a heavy bloomer, in the first place, ornamental in all its parts; alone, of the whole plant, the leaf blade is brilliant green; the veins themselves are colored and marble. 'Lutea nana' - Very dwarf plant, barely 25 centimeters, vigorous, excessively floribund. Sturdy stem, short hairy. Leaves very close together, with a short petiole, gray, hairy like the bark. Blade thick, fleshy, dark green, relatively very large, with uneven dentils, short, glossy-shiny and as varnished, marble; green veins on a red-red background. Male and female flowers many, very large, especially the males, which, very bombs, reach up to 5 to 7 centimeters in diameter; large external petals, obovate-rounded; many internal petals, of a beautiful golden yellow sulfur, often monstrous and having within narrow divisions, or kind of hatched hatches, recalling sexual organs in the process of formation. Bright pink peduncle dark. The flowers, simple, also abundant and large, are also of a golden yellow bee, color which is still raised by the rose of the peduncles. Begonia rosea multiflora - As well as its congeners, this variety is very vigorous, tresbien that trs-dwarf. Stem robust, erect, holding well, glabrous in all its parts. Cylindrical stalk, bark shiny, slightly pink. Leaves small, inequilateral, fleshy, short, thick, shiny, green above, roses in dessous. Floral axes erect, red, emerging very well foliage. Excessively numerous flowers, up to 5 to 6 centimeters in diameter, with imbricate petals. Except the top of the leaves, all parts of the plant are hairless and a beautiful magenta pink, which produces charming effects. As, on the other hand, the plant is extremely floribund, it is doubly pretty: by itself and by the oppositions which it determines with the other varieties to which it is placed.
