Plant

Description
Davisii flore plena superba - doube flower form, brilliant crimson-scarlet, of good size, and extremely free.; The Gardener’s Chronicle, v. 15, 1881 Begonia Davisii var. superba flore pleno. This fine variety, which was exhibited at South Kensington last week, and obtained a First-class Certificate, marks the greatest advance that has yet been made with the double-flowered forms of the tuberous-rooted Begonia. The annexed illustration (fig. 122) well portrays the style of the flower, which measured 2½ inches in diameter, while its bright crimson-red color was very attractive. The plant, which in habit is the counterpart of B. Davisii, was, we believe, raised by Mr. V. Lemoine, of Nancy, from whom the stock was obtained by Messrs. John Laing & Co., of Stanstead Park, Forest Hill.
