Description
Plants small (maximum 15 cm) and holding; petioles and floral peduncles arising most often directly from a small globular tuberous length of 5-10 mm or sometimes short rhizomatous axis 2-5 cm long carrying laterally leaves and inflorescences. Leaves 2-6 (-10) petiole thick, 6-7 cm long dark pink; Iimbe 5-7-palmatinerve slightly asymmetrical, very slightly crassulose pale green above, pink below suborbicular or subtriangular slightly lanceolate, acute at apex cordate or sometimes slightly truncate at base 2-3.5 X 2-3.5 cm most often incised in 5-7 lobes up to one-third of its length; dentate lobes; teeth few, broad, obtuse but finely acute at the top of the upper limb strewn with spicules hair, lower face glabrous; thin veins branched towards the edges; Tertiary reticulum finely anastomosis. Stipules lanceolate in acute scales. Inflorescence in biparous bisexual or unisexual cymes, with common peduncle 5-12 cm long; branching 4-6 mm long. MALE flowers with a pedicel length of 8-10 mm; 2 suborbicular tepals 3-4 mm in diameter, pink. Stamens 4-8, with slightly welded nets at their base and free on 0.6-0.8 mm; oblong antheres, 1.5-2 mm long, obtuse at the base and at the apex. FEMALE flowers with pedicel length 10-15 mm · 2 tepals oblong 5 x 2-3 mm pink. Ovary oblong 5-6 mm; triaile; styles 3 slightly welded at their bifid base at the top; stigma twisted blade around each branch of styles. Differs from the typical variety by its capsules with large wings clearly triangular, a very acute terminal angle. - P. 4 p. 23.
