Florum MALE tepala 4, exteriora latiora, interior angustiora, staminibus 6-8, filamentis longe liberis. Florum FEMALE tepala 5, lactea, exteriora 3 lariora. Styli 3 bifidi, stigmatibus papillosis. Ovarium 3-alatum. Capsula ignota. Plant almost entirely hairless (except partially leaves) perennial; short tuberiform rhizome, 10-20 mm long, often divided. Stem no or very little branched, 5-15 cm long, with 2-6 perisistant leaves (in garden and ombriere). Petiole very fine, sometimes filiform, 1-3.5 cm long, usually shorter than limbus. Stipules triangular, acute, 2-3 mm long, membranous, light brown. Leaf blade oval-triangular, very distinctly asymmetric, a little acuminate at the top, retreciated and wedge at the base, on the petiole, 2.4 x 2-5 cm, dark green upper surface, often speckled-macule of white, these ocelli irregularly dispersed corresponding to crystalline concretions surrounding the base of hooked hairs, very short and stocky; margins shallow crenelees-dentees sometimes violaceous and a little scabrous. Inflorescence short, 12-15 mm long, with 2-3 white flowers with very fine pedicels, rosa. MALE flowers has 2 tepals of 7-6 mm, rounded at the top and 2 tepals of 6 x 1.5 mm, acute. Stamens 6-8, with long free fillets. FEMALE flowers have 3 ovate tepals, 6 x 3.5 mm, and 2 tepals smaller, of 5-6 X 2 mm. Ovary white, has 3 equal wings (very young state); styles 3, bifides at the top, 3 mm long, slightly stigmatized arch, papilleux. Adult capsule unknown. - Pl. 3, p. 21. Although it resembles Begonia tanala Humbert, this species is particularly distinguished by its vegetative system little or unbranched, its size much lower, its dark leaves, white maculae. The geographical location is also very different.
