- Plant erect, entirely hairless; underground apparatus forming a tuberous rhizome; small subglobular tubers, 5 mm in diameter, chlorophyllian; stems erect, 15-30 cm high and 2 mm thick, slightly woody at base, branching, entirely red; internodes 2 cm long, shorter superiors. Leaves couplet, almost on a plane, petiolar red, short, 3-10 mm long; membranous lamina, fine, pinnatinate, narrowly lanceolate, 2-6 X 0.5-2 cm, green, wedge at base, attenuation from lower third to apex, very acute apex, margins dacement edges and mucronules; median rib well marked, protruding above; secondary veins 5 to 10 on each side; reticulum of tertiary veins forming loose anastomoses. Scaly, membranous, acute-lanceolate stems, cordate at base, semi-amplexicaulex, 4-6 X 1.5-3 mm, wider at lower third. Axillary and terminal inflorescences, seeming unisexual; 1 to 2 flowers MALE only one FEMALE flower, very small; peduncle 20 mm long in the MALE flowers and 10 mm in the FEMALE flowers; paired, small, lanceolate, 1.5-2 mm. MALE flowers with short pedicel, 10-12 mm long; 4 tepals 2 outer ovals, 3.5 x 2 mm, red on the outer side, white on the inner side, the 2-internal narrow. Stamens 6-15 approx., With threads welded at the base in a column of 1 mm, free at the top on 1 mm; Linear-oblong antheres, 1 mm long, obtuse at the base, connective slightly apical at the apex. FEMALE flower with pedicel 15 mm; 5 tepals white-pink, the outer ovals, 4 X 2.5 mm, the internals smaller and more acute. Ovary fusiform, 20 mm long, triaile; styles 3, free, bifid at the top; crooked stigma. Fusiform capsule, pedicel small, 2 cm long, slightly inclined, oblong-lanceolate; 3 subegal wings, 2 mm wide, acute at the top, corner at the base and decurrent on the pedicel; median rib well marked; 8-12 lateral veins on each side, clearly divaric and united by anastomotic venules.
