Leaves variable, nearly symmetrical, broadly ovate, 4-12 cm. long, short-acuminate, rounded or barely cordate at base, sparsely serrate and ciliate to entire, glabrous, petioles 1-8 cm. long, stipules persistent, ovate oblong, mucronate, entire, 10-22 mm. long. Cymes axillary, many flowered, diffuse, peduncle 6-12 cm. long. Bracts persistent, minute. Pedicels 6-16 mm. long, fine. Staminate tepals 4, the outer broadly obovate, 3-6 mm. long, the inner narrower. Stamens free, few, anthers oblong. Pistillate tepals 5, elliptic, 4-6 mm. long. Styles 3, 2-parted, completely covered by stigmatic papillae, placentae simple.
