- J. J. Halda, P. Hertus & M. Malina, Acta Mus. Richnov., Sect. Nat. 14 (4):105 2007 - Some new Bolivian Plants: “DESCRIPTION: Similar to B. tominiana J. Golding (subgenus Huszia Klotzsch), but smaller,succulent, few−leaved, single flowered (rarely 2−3 flowers), with wings, large−flowered; seeds bigger, shiny. Bulb dark brown, up 100 mm across. Stem very short, up 30 mm long. Leaves few basal, succulent, short−petiolate, base cordate, obovate−reniform, deeply lobate, roundly dentate, glaucous−green, with one−sided vagina at 10 mm across with mucronate top; lamina (25)35− 60(80) mm long and across. Flower single (rarely up 3); scape single, up 200 mm tall, succulent purple−rose, glanduloso−hairy; peduncle 10−15 mm long, vaginal bracts erect, ovate−rotundate; flower−bracts ca 5 mm distant. Flowers up 80 mm across; sepals subequal free, subelliptic, few−dentate. Petals dark rose, ovate, obtuse, fully open are patent. Stamens golden yellow, stigma yellow.
